#2 ODG Automation: Get More Done
At ODG, we have always been a data company. Even before it was cool.
It started in the mid-1990s. Jerry Maguire was big at the box office, and America was doing the Macarena.
The first editions of ODG ("Show me the data!") didn't get quite the buzz of Tom Cruise and Mr. Gooding, Jr.
But show the data we did. Textbooks, at 2,000 pages each with 25,000 graphs (black & white), they weighed eight pounds. Graphs, graphs and more graphs.
Perhaps we were ahead of our time (or crazy?).
We believed evidence-based medicine and data analytics could revolutionize claims management.
We had the data, but what we didn't have – what the world lacked then – was the technology to make data actionable and consumable at the claim level, inside systems and by human eyes, ears, and hands.
The Internet was born, and with that, a Web version of ODG with dynamic tools to leverage computing power in real-time on the growing ODG database.
With a new "GUI" (graphic user interface), we systematized and standardized database intelligence in a consumable way. The world beat a path to our door.
Today, together, we stand at the precipice of another revolution. The world is going fully connected.
Either you are inside, or out. Anything that can be automated, should be. The connections you make (or fail to make) to systems drive the productivity and knowledgebase of staff, the effectiveness of business rules, and the success or failure of companies.
Twenty years in, every ODG tool (see #20-11 in the "Recap" on the right) is fully automatable. Get it inside your systems, or use a vendor who can.
Together we can do 1,000 times more in a split second programmatically than we could ever ask a human to do in a full day with a textbook. We can auto-approve evidence-based care, auto-populate target RTW date, export and share ODG content, red-flag inappropriate care, optimize resources, and triage interventions with automated, analytical claim risk assessment.
In short, the world has changed. It's more connected, and it has finally grown into ODG.
That’s progress. Even without the Macarena.
