Official Disability Guidelines
Treatment in Workers' Comp
Over the last 12 years, Work Loss Data Institute (WLDI) raised the bar with Official
Disability Guidelines (ODG), instilling accountability and achievement
in the development and presentation of disability duration guidelines and
benchmarking data on time away from work. The same can be said for medical
treatment guidelines in workers' compensation with the release of ODG
Treatment in Workers' Comp, now entering its fifth year. With a
continuous update process based on scientific medical literature review,
survey data analysis and expert panel validation, the ODG Product Line has
quickly become the trusted authority on expected duration and appropriate
treatment in today's workers' comp and non-occupational disability
markets.

What is ODG Treatment?
ODG Treatment contains independent, evidence-based,
nationally recognized treatment guidelines for the most common
work-related conditions. ODG Treatment also includes the
well known
evidence-based return-to-work guidelines from the Official Disability
Guidelines as well as impairment guidelines from the International
Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC), making
for a complete and defensible workers' comp reference. ODG
Treatment is the most complete
workers' comp reference available.
Is ODG Treatment accepted for inclusion in
the National Guidelines Clearinghouse?
Since its first edition, ODG Treatment has been
accepted for inclusion in the National Guideline Clearinghouse™ (NGC), a
public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. NGC is an
initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, and the site is located at www.guidelines.gov. Once on the site, go to Browse by Organization for a
list of guideline publishers whose guidelines have been accepted.
NGC employs its inclusion criteria very strictly, and
not all guidelines have been accepted. Among the inclusion criteria is
that the guidelines are based on "a systematic literature search and
review of existing scientific evidence published in peer reviewed
journals", and also that the guidelines are kept up-to-date.
What can I expect to find in ODG Treatment?
Chapters, which are based on body parts such as "The Knee and
Leg" or general conditions such as "Pain," begin with a
summary of the most common diagnosis and complaints followed by
recommended treatments. Information about recommended time out of work is
also included in this section, where applicable. Following the chapter
summary is a listing of the procedure codes for automated approval for
each related ICD-9 diagnosis code.
Below the automated approval
codes is the
"Procedure Summary," which breaks down and summarizes the
research based on procedure for easier understanding and application. Each
summary links to the referenced studies, which are then highlighted and
rated for quality.

Work Loss Data Institute (WLDI) is an independent database
development company focused on workplace health and productivity. For more

Can I review ODG Treatment before I
purchase it?
Yes. You have 30 days to review ODG Treatment or any ODG
product. If you are not satisfied within 30 days of receipt, you may
return the item(s) for a complete credit or refund. Call 1-800-488-5548 or
Which format of ODG Treatment is best
for me?
ODG Treatment is offered in a hard copy and a web format.
Because the website is updated continuously, whereas the hard copy is only
printed annually, the web version is strongly recommended for being the
most current in an ever-evolving field. Furthermore, the web version is
the official "current" edition of ODG Treatment at any
point in time, whereas the hard copy will never be as current as the Web
edition, but it is provided as a service to those subscribers who prefer a
textbook version.
Does WLDI offer initial and ongoing training
for its products?
New:
#1 recommendation for ODG training, a free self-paced Web based demo

CME or CE credit. WLDI recommends the courses offered by
AADEP. For information on their courses, go to www.aadep.org,
